About The Musical Theater CenterThe Musical Theater Center (MTC) has its roots in a performing ensemble of eight young artists called "Young Americans of Washington" who performed at the historic National Theater in Washington, DC in 1984. The group incorporated in 1988 and received 501(c)(3) status in 1990. In 1995, the organization's name changed to better reflect the mission and wide range of performing arts activities offered. Today, MTC is one of the leading performing arts education organizations for young people in the metropolitan Washington area and is dedicated to providing school age students the highest quality performing arts education with a focus on training in the musical theater disciplines of voice, dance and acting. In addition, MTC's several community outreach programs provide arts education opportunities for underserved populations. For over twenty (20) years, the Center's unique performance-based programs have served students at all skill levels. MTC's programs currently serve over 1,800 students annually and include:
