The Musical Theater Center's two performing ensembles, the Singular Sensations (high school age), and Upbeat Unlimited (upper elementary and middle school), rehearse weekly throughout the year and are an important part of our activities and our mission. Each ensemble has 24-30 members selected by audition for their skills in singing, tap, and jazz.
Their performances at community, regional, and national events feature song and dance numbers from Broadway and Hollywood musicals. Our ensembles have appeared at Children's Hospital, the White House, Glen Echo Park, and Walt Disney World, and the MCI Center. Upbeat Unlimited performed with a touring company of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Warner Theater In Washington, D.C. Singular Sensations performed with Clay Aiken in his 2004 Christmas concert at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore.
Our ensembles have produced over 150 alumni, many of whom perform professionally in New York and around the country.
